The body is intelligent. It is capable of self-regulation and self-healing if the nervous system is functioning properly. The nervous system is made of the brain, spinal cord, and spinal nerves. Your brain is the powerhouse of your body, and the spinal cord and nerves transmit all messages from the brain to the entire body.
When a spinal bone (vertebra) is misaligned, it can irritate the spinal nerve at that level, thus interfering with the nerve function. This is what chiropractors call a SUBLUXATION.
Chiropractors check for subluxation of the vertebra. When a subluxation is detected, a spinal adjustment is given at that specific location, in a specific direction, with a specific amount of force.
There are three things that can cause a vertebral subluxation: physical stress, chemical stress, or emotional stress. We call these the three T's: traumas, toxins, and thoughts. Traumas can be large, like an accident or fall; or small like repetitive micro-traumas. Toxins are the chemicals in the foods we eat, water we drink, air we breathe, medications, etc. Thoughts are any emotional factors such as stress.
It is nearly impossible to escape physical, chemical, and emotional stressors. This is why it is important for everyone to get checked for subluxation. The effects of subluxation can be detrimental if not addressed.
